Data heading descriptions:
Unique - unique identifier field in MSS deepwater survey database
Year – year during which particular survey was undertaken
Date – date that particular haul was recorded (dd/mm/yyyy)
survey – description of MSS survey
cruisenumber – MSS survey code
Gear – acronym describing MSS demersal research trawl type used
haul – denotes the trawl survey haul number for that particular record
declatshot – shooting position: Decimal degrees of latitude
declongshot – shooting position: Decimal degrees of longitude
declathaul – hauling position: Decimal degrees of latitude
declonghaul – hauling position: Decimal degrees of longitude
durationmin – haul duration/ time trawl spent on bottom in minutes
depth – average depth from the surface recorded during survey haul (metres)
species - 3 letter code used by MSS to identify species
sex - gender of the described species (Male/Female/Unidentified)
ScientificName - Scientific name of the species
AphiaID - Aphia Identifier that can be used to look up species information and taxonomic status on e.g. World Register of Marine species. http://www.marinespecies.org/
length – total length recorded to the centimetre below (centimetres)
frequency – total number of fish recorded for this category: haul/species/sex/length
