Six sites around the Sound of Shuna were selected as locations for sampling of pelagic stages of sea lice (nauplii and copepodids) for a 2021 field campaign carried out by SAMS under the Salmon Parasite In Linnhe, Lorn, and Shuna (SPILLS) project.
The objectives of the field and laboratory analyses were to:
1.Test out multiple field sampling methods for capturing sea lice nauplii and copepodid larvaeand undertake a field sampling campaign.
2.Establish a process for subsampling, processing, and visual identification of sea lice larvae from the field sampling campaign.
3.Quantify sea lice larvae from a field sampling campaign designed and informed from sea lice larvae dispersal modelling.
