All wave and tidal stream energy\u003Cbr \/\u003E\ndevelopments, including those in The Crown Estate\u0027s (TCE) first leasing round in the\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nPentland Firth and Orkney waters, will be eligible to compete for the prize, under the\u003Cbr \/\u003E\ncondition that they are in a site in Scottish waters leased by TCE.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nIn the spirit of encouraging rapid development of wave and tidal energy, and to give\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nopportunities for other projects to compete for the Saltire Prize, TCE and the Scottish\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nGovernment are working in partnership to prepare plans for a further Scottish leasing round\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nfor wave and tidal projects. This leasing round is entirely separate and in addition to the\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nleasing in the Pentland Firth and Orkney waters. A scoping paper on the proposed\u003Cbr \/\u003E\ngeographic areas to be leased for the Further Scottish Leasing Round was published and\u003Cbr \/\u003E\ninterested parties were invited to comment.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nSubsequently and partly in response to comments received on the Scoping Study, Marine\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nScotland has undertaken further analysis of the proposed areas. The results of this work are\u003Cbr \/\u003E\ndescribed in this report and collectively known as Regional Locational Guidance (RLG). The\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nRLG is provided primarily to assist developers interested in competing for the Saltire Prize to\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nidentify and develop projects rapidly, but may also be of interest to planners and regulators.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nThe RLG collates and presents a range of information relevant to the development process\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nand based on this, Marine Scotland\u2019s appreciation of the physical characteristics and\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nthe relative degree of constraints in these areas. Developers are strongly encouraged to\u003Cbr \/\u003E\ntake the information in the RLG into account when selecting and pursuing site\u003Cbr \/\u003E\ndevelopments, since it may be material to the consents process.
